LAURYN CATE
ABOUT
I think songs should be vulnerable. They’re personal and they’re authentic.
I’m Lauryn Cate, a Nashville based 25-year-old singer-songwriter from Los Angeles. Having grown up riding horses in Laurel Canyon to moving to Nashville after graduating from college (I studied Music Industry & Songwriting at USC), my sound has become a blend of the two cities - a sonic Coastal Cowgirl. As a result, my music is primarily Country-Pop, blending catchy, rhythmic melodies with storytelling lyrics.
I'm equally partial to an old school slide guitar as I am to a good synth, and my ultimate goal is to create a musical environment where the two can coexist. I tend to write more uptempo songs than anything - I love writing music that makes you want to move. Even in my sadder ballads, I always want them to be the kind of songs that keep good tempo and get stuck in your head.
Conceptually, I want to write songs that promote important, relatable messages that celebrate the emotional rollercoaster that is everyday life. A song can capture any moment whether it’s the rush you feel from being in love, or the weight you carry from suffering a loss.
When I don't have a guitar in my lap, you can typically find me riding my horse, drinking wine, or baking sourdough bread.
